2025 Funded Projects

The Movement Centre

The Movement Centre is an amazing charity based in Oswestry, dedicated to supporting children living with movement difficulties and their families. They are also a specialist treatment centre and provide a therapy called ‘Targeted Training’ to help children gain movement control, which can help them to learn new skills and gain independence.

They are currently running a campaign called ‘Stand With Us!’ which is focused around their standing frames, an essential piece of equipment used by children who attend The Movement Centre. Children receive a standing frame and take part in therapy sessions on a daily basis at home.

Derwen College

When we were approached in December 2024 by Derwen College to sponsor a student for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, we knew this was the perfect opportunity for The Charlotte Hartey Foundation to support.

By donating £682, we have enabled one student to embark on life-changing adventures such as a challenging four-day walking expedition in Snowdonia or an exciting sailing expedition on the Norfolk Broads. For students like Brendan, who has mobility issues, the sailing option provides an opportunity to enjoy this experience.

Steve Evans - Sports Coordinator from Derwen College - along with student Brendan, visited Hartey Wealth Management’s Oswestry office this week and expressed their gratitude for the donation.

“The support from Hartey Wealth Management has been invaluable in making these opportunities available to our students,” said Steve Evans. “It allows them to gain independence and confidence. They learn valuable skills while participating in activities that might otherwise be out of reach.”

Brendan, who is a student on Derwen College’s Hospitality and Food pathway, said he was excited for the experience and said: “I’m looking forward to learning to sail with the Gold team and Steve! It’s going to be a great adventure.”

When Brendan visited our office, we were so blown away by his amazing attitude and infectious sense of humour that we agreed to sponsor another student!

We have now donated a total of £1,364 towards Derwen College’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

Students Lizzie and Dylan, who are both talented swimmers representing Team GB in Down Syndrome Swimming, also visited our Oswestry office to express their gratitude. The sporty duo will be trading their goggles for hiking boots as they take on a four-day expedition in Snowdonia, walking up to six hours a day as part of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

Karl Hartey, patron of the Charlotte Hartey Foundation, is a keen sportsman himself and was delighted to support the students in their fitness and health challenges.

“I know Snowdonia well, having used it as a training ground for my charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro,” Karl said. “Hearing that Dylan and Lizzie are also national sports champions is the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to hear all about their adventures in Snowdonia.”

Steve Evans, expressed his gratitude for the donations.

“It’s important to us that every student who want to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards is able to. We work hard to break down barriers to success, including financial ones. The Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award would be a sizeable cost if it wasn’t for funding support. Thanks to kind sponsors like Hartey Wealth Management, we can provide these life-changing experiences.”

We’re looking forward to catching up with the students to hear all about their adventures.

Primary Trauma Care Foundation

Thanks to a grant from the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation, we are able to help the Primary Care Foundation with their work in Sri Lanka, where funding had nearly ran out. Find out more about their work here.

Clywd Special Riding Centre

Clwyd Special Riding Centre is a registered charity located in Llanfynydd, near Wrexham, North Wales. The Centre provides state-of-the-art facilities that are fully accessible and inclusive for a wide variety of equine-based activities, benefitting people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities and additional needs, including mental health and well-being.

Back in May, the Centre faced closure due to rising costs and falling donations. A crowd-funding campaign was launched and through the tireless efforts of the team desperate to save the Centre, over £300,000 was raised. We were very happy to be able to help, with a donation of £500 made to the campaign.

Ellesmere Bowling Club

We’ve supported Ellesmere Bowling Club for a number of years now, helping them to run a full programme of league, competition and social bowling for people of all ages and abilities.

The views from their top green are amazing, being the highest green in England, and the site of a motte and Bailey castle – a perfect spot for our banner!

MusicMOB

Another organisation that we’re happy to support is MusicMOB – over the last 3 years, we’ve enabled 3 children to learn to play a musical instrument and we’re delighted to donate £1,200 to support the tuition costs for another 2 groups of 3 children.

So far in this academic year, MusicMOB has provided lessons to 115 young people across 7 schools and the positive impact on those involved is truly amazing.

Crane Quality Counselling

We were very proud to be able to support Crane Quality Counselling with a donation of £500. This donation will help provide vital counselling support for local children facing challenges such as bereavement, family difficulties, or school-related pressures. In fact, it means that three young people will each be able to access up to six counselling sessions with highly qualified professionals who give their all to supporting children through difficult times.

We’re honoured to play a small part in helping these young people find the support they need and deserve.

St Martins Baby and Toddler Group

We were delighted to be able to donate two table and bench units to the St Martins Baby and Toddler Group.

These new additions will give children and families a welcoming space to sit, play, and connect together. It was fantastic to support the amazing work this group does for young families in the community.

Chirk Dragons Swim Club

We’re delighted to share that The Charlotte Hartey Foundation has donated £500 to Chirk Dragons Swim Club.

This contribution will help to fund new gym equipment and support lifeguard training, ensuring young swimmers have the resources and safety skills they need to thrive in and out of the pool.

The Foundation is proud to continue encouraging youth development, health, and community spirit - values that were so important to Charlotte.
